About me
My name is the Rev. Robert Moore. I am an ordained Unitarian Universalist (UU) minister, a spiritual director, and retreat leader. I am a member of the UU Society for Community Ministers, the UU Spiritual Directors Network, and Spiritual Directors International. I completed my training in spiritual leadership and spiritual direction with HeartPaths DFW in 2018. As part of that training, I have also completed the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola as a nine-month "retreat in everyday life." I look forward to walking with you on your spiritual path.
Specializing in Interfaith and Humanist/Agnostic Spiritual Direction
Interfaith
A couple of the sources of Unitarian Universalism are the following: "Wisdom from the world's religions which inspires us in our ethical and spiritual lives" and "Jewish and Christian teachings which call us to respond to God's love by loving our neighbors as ourselves." Through these sources, I am familiar with various world religious traditions. While I cannot claim expertise in these other traditions, I do have a comfort level talking about and within different traditions. From my faith tradition growing up and through study and experience, I am most familiar with Christianity, Buddhism and to a lesser degree Judaism. All are welcome here!
Humanist/Agnostic
Another couple of sources are these: "Humanist teachings which counsel us to heed the guidance of reason and the results of science, and warn us against idolatries of the mind and spirit" and "Words and deeds of prophetic women and men which challenge us to confront powers and structures of evil with justice, compassion, and the transforming power of love." Just as I am comfortable with the language of faith, I am also comfortable with the language of Humanism and reason. Belief in the God of Christianity or any other tradition is not a requirement by any means. Only a willingness to engage your journey with reverence, meaning, and wholeness. All are welcome here!
LBGTQ Affirming
As a hopeful LBGTQIA+ ally, I am committed to affirming and welcoming, with open and loving arms, all LBGTQIA+ folx seeking spiritual direction. Unitarian Universalist congregations are filled with LBGTQIA+ folx who have been harmed in ways large and small by previous religious communities. Add to that the current climate of uncertainty and a return to the bigotry and prejudice of the all too recent past, and LBGTQIA+ persons often have trouble finding spiritual care and community. All are welcome here!
